While we love the TAV airport hotel, it's a pricey stay for an overnight when arriving or departing Istanbul. Friend and colleague Chris Drum Berkaya has spent the winter organizing and managing customer relations at the Han Hostel in the Yenibosna district of Istanbul about 5 minutes from Ataturk International Airport. We paid her a visit in March. Once a student dormitory, the multi-storey building has been converted into a very interesting arrangement of floors for different budgets. The most basic accommodations on the lower floors do indeed remind one of student days, whereas the plusher rooms as one ascends feel like a true hotel. The decor is nothing short of wild, as though an eclectic art collector scattered his entire inventory throughout the building. Prices vary from 30 Euro for a single room with an advance reservation, to 80 Euros for the fancier doubles on the top floors with a view and a balcony. All in all, a great option for a quick stay in Istanbul, and Tripadvisor reviewers agree.
