A Russian restaurant in Bitez?  We were curious about such a brave venture and had the opportunity to enjoy lunch at Kalina this week.From the Matryoshka dolls to the embroidered table cloths and curtains, and with Ivan Rebroff crooning in the background, the mood was set. The menu is extensive and we started with caviar which was served on very elegant crust-less toast which had just the right amount of delicate, buttery flavor.

Currently on a rather embarrassing mayonnaise fetish, I thought the Mimosa salad was spectacular, followed by fish koftes with two dipping sauces. Born and bred in Kiev, sturdy chef Svetlana means business and Ukrainian dishes are also widely featured.

Kalina is located adjacent to the tennis courts on the southern side of Bitez Bay a few meters in from the beach and about 15 minutes from central Bodrum.

Guests on tirhandil Trippin would never guess that their gentle captain is also a world renowned jazz musician as well as a Cordon Bleu chef.  Ali Perret is now putting both of his talents together with the opening of his jazz lounge in Bodrum this month.

The upcoming program will start on December 12th and include performances from Şenay Lambaoğlu,Engin Recepoğulları, Neşet Ruacan, Ayşe Gencer, İmer Demirer and Serkan Özyılmaz along with Ali Perret through December.

 Pannonica Jazz Bistro Lounge has a capacity of 60 and is open between 15.00-01.00 from Wednesday through Saturday. On Sunday it is open between 15.00-22.00. Mondays and Tuesdays will be closed during winter months. Its cuisine is run by an executive chef who has worked at various restaurants around America, Germany and Italy.
