As of 24 July, 2015, Yesil Marmaris Lines will introduce a new direct ferry service between Bodrum and the Northern Dodecanese Greek island of Leros. The ferry is ''Kartepe'' with a passenger capacity of 430 persons. The trip duration is approximately 45 minutes at a cost of 57 Euro return. Of course, reaching Leros on a private gulet is far more fun! For more information, email info@southerncrossbluecruising.com.

Artemis now has some Ottoman color with her hand-crafted accessories and cushion covers. Our brand new launch has already had two charters with great success and excellent customer feedback. One of her very unique features is that in addition to the two master cabins, her mid-ship double cabins can also be configured as twins. This amount of flexibility appeals to a wide range of groups - i.e., two families with children, or four couples. Artemis I comes with all of the latest electronic equipment, a full galley and an array of motorized power sports. Her maiden charter is in late June, and she has many open weeks remaining for July and August. Her daily rate is 1500 to 2100 Euro per day. We are pleased to welcome the latest addition to our Southern Cross Blue Cruising's extended family, our young, dynamic gopher Emre.
Emre's job description is lengthy indeed - he is overseeing provisioning and sourcing difficult to locate items, including alcohol-free beer and flourless cake mixes. He is also tech-savvy and quick with Excel worksheets, and will be assisting with embarkations and dis-embarkations along the coastline. Emre brings experience from having been the logistics manager for a private luxury gulet, and has already made valuable contributions to our operations. When a gulet chef wins not one but all of the awards for best appetizer, best main course and best desert at the Marmaris Yacht Charter Show, one really wants to see the boat and try her food. We were fortunate enough to have a private dinner invitation one balmy evening on 25 meter, 4 double cabin M/S Turkish Delight with owners/captain Warren East and his partner/chef Elizabeth Lee. Elizabeth and Warren have put enormous amounts of work and energy into their gulet, and it shows. Beautiful bedding, comfortable cabins, one-of-a-kind collectables, and an amazing setee in the roomy, comfortable saloon with an open galley, allows nosy people like me to watch Elizabeth's galley secrets. Hands down to the incredible food and presentation, as well as very enjoyable company and conversation. Turkish Delight offers board-inclusive as well as boat only pricing, and has remaining available weeks 1-15 August and for the week of 23 August. Drop them or us a line for more information, and see a video of the yacht below. Turkish Delight gulet
Without a doubt, the rookie gulet at the Marmaris International Yacht Charter Show was Rox Star.
A 37 meter transom stern gulet with beautiful lines, Rox Star brings a very contemporary edge to traditional gulets, with a class rock and roll theme, a matte finishing, and many beautiful, unique objects related to the music world. She has one master and four double staterooms, for up to ten persons. Her engine room is a marvel in itself with protective glass walls and a special climate controlled environment. There is a spacious, unique lounge area on the forward deck, and Rox Star is also able to charter in Italy, Croatia and Greece with advance arrangements. Her charter rates without relocation range from 75,000 to 85,000 Euro per week. For more information, email info@southerncrossbluecruising.com. Queen Of Karia gulet
Good food abounded in Bodrum this spring, starting with our very ''not-Turkish'' curry cook off at Erenler Sofrasi in March. It was a very warm and welcoming cooking session on a chilly Saturday evening at Asli Mutlu's bucolic green garden restaurant in Ortakent. Asli offers customized local Bodrum market tours, Turkish and Greek cooking classes and fabulous dinners at her restaurant, all focusing on locally sourced, organic products. We also had a fantastic private evening at the Istanbul Charcuterie and Tapas Bar, a venture whose name sounds like the ultimate head-scratching oxymoron, but which really delivers all as promised. One corner of the venue is a high end delicatessen with an amazing array of local and imported cheeses, salamis, sausages and mezes, and the other half is a full scale bar and restaurant with unrivaled outdoor seating, watching the gulets glide in and out of Bodrum harbor. Our latest excursion was the launch of an Aussie-Turkish partnership, Sugar and Salt, a meld of bistro, restaurant and tapas bar in a tucked away corner only meters from the Bodrum Milta marina. The early April opening was spectacular both socially and taste-bud wise, and we can't wait to taste the full meal. JW Marriott Hotels & Resorts will welcome its second JW Marriott Hotel in Turkey on May 15th. The 107-room property is located in Yalikavak town on the Bodrum Peninsula with panoramic views of the Aegean Sea.
Family suites and two bedroom suites are ideal for groups or those travelling with children, whilst many of the villas offer a private pool for the ultimate retreat. The hotel sits on its own private beach and boasts a dock for guests arriving by boat or taking a day trip sailing. Formerly named Karia Princess IV, the new owner of this handsome gulet is none other than Doğan Güneri, also the owner of Kaya Güneri IV. Known for his meticulous upkeep and attention to detail, he has revamped the gulet and also lowered the price to make her more competitive with other luxury gulets. One of her neatest features are the original Carian hieroglypics which decorate her hull. Her prices range from 2250 to 4125 Euro per day. More information on Kaya Güneri Plus is here. |
